1)  Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background.

My name is Aliki Liadis, and I have been a gamer since I was about 17.  I like online role playing games (EverQuest2), live action role playing games (KANAR, Vampire the Masquerade), and most other games (Settlers of Catan, Lunch Money, Apples to Apples, Magic the Gathering).  I work in a corporate office as the marketing/account manager for a payment processing company (Standard Payments).  I enjoy going out to the club dressed to impress for dancing and hanging out with friends.

2)  How long have you been costuming?  What kinds of experiences have you had?

I enjoy costumes and the persona that each costume comes with.  I am involved with the Michigan Renaissance Festival, where costuming is a huge part of the fantasy experience.  I have a huge collection of renaissance gear including everything from a simple peasant's outfit to the more showy red leather armor outfit of a warrior chick.  I also sport an extensive collection of club/fetish gear that I have performed in with the goth dance troupe "Causing a Scene Productions."  I have also been a model for a few sci-fi convention costume contests wearing the creations of Xaina.

3)  What's your earliest memory of seeing
Return of the Jedi?

The earliest memory I have is watching Return of the Jedi in Latch Key in early elementary school.  I was fascinated by the Star Wars movies and imagined I was Princess Leia.  (I also imagined I was a combination of She-ra as well....)

4)  When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it?

This is my first "metal bikini" and I love the costume.  Being a
Star Wars fanatic, the costume is a great way to realize all sorts of personal fantasies.  Getting to be Princess Leia in real life is a treat, and the heads turning as I walk by is the proof.

5)  What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia?

As I was walking through the Vegas Convention Center for the Halloween Fetish and Fantasy event, I watched a gaggle of guys run right into the group of people ahead of them by mistake....   all while their eyes were firmly attached to my costume.  I was able to out-costume the 3 other Princess Leia's at the 4500+ people party, and reveled in the jaw-dropping from the guys.

6)  If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why?

Jabba wants a show or you're getting eaten.  That's the lesson.  So giving Jabba what he wants, I would dance to Garbage's "Number 1 Crush."  It's a great slow grinding song with lots of room for movement of all sorts.  And it gives him the false impression that you like what you're doing...  all while plotting his choked demise.

7)  Any final words?

I enjoy wearing the costume for a number of reasons.  First of all, it's a very comfortable, light-weight outfit that allows you to move, sit, dance, and pretty much anything else you want to do, without it breaking or being in the way.  Second, it's cool as hell to dress up exactly like the character that I idolized as a kid, yet still have the appeal as an adult.  Third...  the attention is dizzying.

Thanks Aliki!
