| 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background. My name's Brittany and I'm a senior at The Evergreen State College. I'm a Renaissance woman. Literally. I'm currently studying Shakespearean Literature and I hope to someday pursue a career in the field, maybe as a college professor or an editor. Right now, my hobbies include literature, costuming, video games, role playing, cooking, poetry.... among other things. I frequent Renaissance faires and am taking fencing lessons. My favorite color is green and my favorite author (excluding Shakespeare) is probably Kurt Vonnegut. Theatre is also a major interest of mine, which explains how I got into costuming. 2) How long have you been costuming? What kinds of experiences have you had? Actually, not that long, maybe a few years. I do a lot of sewing, making my own clothes and eventually I just sort of worked up to costuming. Most of my experience with costuming just comes from hanging out in the theatre for most of my life. I spent so much time in school acting in plays and taking theatre classes that eventually it became imperative that I learn how to costume. I started out designing costumes for fun in my theatre 101 class, for shows as Romeo & Juliet and Moliere's Tartuffe. When I found out that my designs were actually good enough, I started making them myself. 3) What's your earliest memory of seeing Return of the Jedi? I must have been about 12 years old, and my dad rented the entire trilogy. I have never even heard of Star Wars before then, but I remember being entranced by the films. 4) When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it? I was stuck on ideas for a costume to wear at my Halloween party last year. My roomate was going as Luke (from ROTJ), which is where the idea to have a Star Wars themed party came from. At that point, the only question was which character I would be. Clearly, Leia. 5) What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia? The look on my ex-boyfriend's face at my halloween party. Priceless. 6) If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why? Good question. Definately, "Baby, you're a rich man" by the Beatles. It's a catchy tune you can really swing your hips to. 7) Any final words? I custom make Leia Bikini costumes, as well as other nerd-themed costumes, like Harley Quinn and various Star Trek apparel.
