| 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background. I am married and have two cats named Xena and Padme, one dog named Krillin and a fish named Sashimi. I love to read, dance while listening to fun music and draw. I am a quarter Japanese. My grandmother gave each of us Japanese middle names. Mine is Maumi, which means soft as silk. 2) How long have you been costuming? What kinds of experiences have you had? I started costuming about three years ago. My husband got me into it. We had went to a couple of conventions while we were dating and I thought that they were okay, but I really loved seeing all the costumes. Then after we got married, my husband got really excited about a convention. He made himself a Jedi costume and I thought "why not?" I would like a costume as well. So he made me the Desert Padme from Episode I. When we got there, I didn't see anyone else in costume and begged him to take me home. He told me to just wait until we got inside and I would feel better. The second we got inside, there was a group of people that had all kinds of Star Wars costumes and asked us to join them. And we had picture after picture taken and the kids loved us. After that, I fell in love with costuming. I have the Bun Leia and Yuna from Final Fantasy. I won Best of Show last year at the Plano, Texas convention with my Yuna costume. 3) What's your earliest memory of seeing Return of the Jedi? I couldn't say an age, but I know my parents said I watched Star Wars all the time when I was little. I loved Princess Leia and those hair buns! 4) When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it? I finished my metal bikini a couple of weeks ago. I have been wanting to do it now for three years, but it took me this long to get the guts to do it. I decided that I wanted to, because I have always loved it and it shows how sexy, yet still very tough a woman can be. 5) What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia? I have not had a chance to wear it yet. Our convention isn't until June. I wanted to get it done now, before I lose the nerve again. I took my pictures to work today and showed some friends and they really loved it. I had one person tell me that they didn't use to be a Star Wars fan until now! So I really look forward to getting to show it off! 6) If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why? I would have to say it would be Brittney Spears "Slave for U." It has the perfect beat, words and is very sexy. I love to turn it up on the surround sound and shake my bum to it. So I would shake it good for Jabba! Come and get it, Jabba baby! 7) Any final words? I really enjoy getting to see all the other Slave Leia costumes out there. They are all great. I really wish there was a Slave Han Solo outfit for us women to dress our men in! Now wouldn't that be fun, ladies! Thanks Dena! |
