| 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background. I'm a proofreader for a medical text publishing company, and a licensed massage therapist. I like drawing, especially with crayons or Sharpies. My first celebrity crush was David Bowie when I was 6, and a few years ago I got to see him in concert! I like running around in the woods, and if you haven't seen the movie "Idiocracy", you should. 2) How long have you been costuming? What kinds of experiences have you had? I guess I've been costuming since I was about 10, but I keep getting better. I've discovered that trying stuff on is vitally important. Some secrets I've discovered are trying things on backwards, upside-down, or inside-out, safety pins, and that costumes really don't have to be dead accurate for people to be blown away. That, and make sure you can stand to wear the entire costume the entire time (and that it won't break if you move in it!). Also, pantyhose are useful for everything. 3) What's your earliest memory of seeing Return of the Jedi? I guess it was on TV a lot when I was little, but I didn't really get into Star Wars until I was 15 and saw the entire Holy Trilogy all the way through for the first time. Then when the Special Editions came out, I wore a different Leia costume to each one (people looked at me really strange). 4) When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it? After watching ROTJ at the age of 15, I went into my room and made a bikini out of duct tape. Sadly, when I wore it to a slumber party, my friend's mom found it afterward and threw it away. (Incidentally, that slumber party was the first time I saw Rocky Horror Picture Show!) 5) What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia? I guess it was the first time I had the balls to wear it in public, having dieted all summer and lost 17 pounds so I could. That's right, Princess Leia is the only motivation that has EVER made me stick to a diet. And I'd never worn a bikini in public either. 6) If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why? The Star Wars Disco Theme Song, because disco will never truly die! 7) Any final words? I'd just as soon kiss a Wookiee. Thanks Iris! |
