| 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background. Originally from New York City, I've lived in the Metro Detroit area most of my life. My hobbies include costuming, costuming, and more costuming. I also love running this website, since it's a way to channel my creativity. I used to do video/film production, and one of my favorite parts was dressing the set. So, this is a way for me to continue doing that sort of thing, without spending thousands of dollars on a cast and crew! 2) How long have you been costuming? What kinds of experiences have you had? I used to work at the Michigan Rennaissance Festival with my parents, and that was how I started to get into costuming. Later on I acted in a play called "Stalag 17", which is about a POW camp in World War 2. I got the part of the German camp commadant, who commanded a lot of presence in the story. I made my uniform as authentic as possible, and that unfortunately lead to my full blown obsession with militaria (for more pics, check out my very own myspace page!). But it wasn't until I read an article in Star Wars Insider in 2002 that I found out about the 501st and all the cool sci-fi conventions. 3) What's your earliest memory of seeing Return of the Jedi? I have very fond, albeit foggy, memories of seeing ROTJ for the first time. It was 1983 and I was in the second grade. The movie was so popular (duh!) that all the showings kept selling out. So rather than stay in line all day, my mom and dad let me skip school and I got to see the noon showing. That was great! Of course I wound up seeing it about 4 more times in the theater, particularly to catch more glimpses of Jabba's Palace. I was fascinated by the fact that every time I saw the throne room scenes, a new creature of some sort caught my eye. Even now, I can watch it and realize there is, say, some weird alien passed out at his table on the left corner of a scene that I never noticed. I later realized this is what makes George Lucas's movies so amazing. The fact that he crams as much stuff into a single shot as he can, making the viewer want to see it again and again. Many years later, I still consider ROTJ to be one of the greatest movies ever made. :-) 4) Any final words? Yes, actually! I want to thank all the girls on this site for being so kind, for sending in their photos, and for all the support they've given me (and for helping others who are looking to make their own bikini). When I first started this site back in May of 2002, there were around 7 or 8 Fans in Costume. Now, just 3 years later, we have amassed over 100! Also, I owe a huge amount of thanks to the artists who've been so generous with their talent to create some truly amazing Slave Leia artwork. :-) Long live the Slave Revolution! |
