1)  Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background.

I work in a museum here in Atlanta and I love my job.  I'm very lucky that I meet new people everyday who want to learn about Atlanta's history.  When I'm not at work, I am usually sewing costumes, performing or going to some sort of dance event.  Currently, I belong to three historic dance groups and travel around the U.S. going to reenactment balls.  I've been dancing since age three, and it's what makes me happy!

2)  How long have you been costuming?  What kinds of experiences have you had?

I've been making costumes since I learned how to sew.  Granted my first costumes were horrible, but as time went on, I improved.  I worked in the costume department in hight school and college and have put in many hours at various locations around Atlanta.  I developed my love of costumes from wearing them in recitals and dressing up for Halloween.  Halloween was the first time I dressed as Princess Leia, and I loved that costume because my mom made it.

Currently, I make costumes from my three dance companies.  I research the make costumes from the 18th century, the Civil War time period and the 1940's.  I am a self proclaimed nerd as far as my interest in costumes is concerned.  It's very important to me that my costumes are period correct.  The attention to detail bores some of my normal friends and evokes admiration from my costumer friends.  Every time I walk past a bolt of silk, I envision it pleated into a fantastic ball gown.  What's even better than making these gowns?  Dancing in them!

3)  What's your earliest memory of seeing
Return of the Jedi?

I went to go see it with my brother and my aunt;  we sat there and watched it three times through!  How could anyone leave?  It was such an awesome movie, and we had to wait so long for it to finally come out!

4)  When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it?

I have always admired Princess Leia;  a beautiful, strong brunette.  She was such a great role model for me!  This was the first time I got to wear the bikini, thanks to some generous friends.  I was getting divorced and my soon to be ex would have never approved of me wearing it.  He also never liked my long hair and had always wanted me to cut it.  I figured that since I didn't need anyone's approval anymore, and since I still had my long hair, that this was the perfect outfit for me!

5)  What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia?

My favorite memory was hanging out with so many cool women!  Everyone I met was beautiful, smart and ballsy.  My friend,
Julie, brought me a blaster to pose with and it made me feel like such a bad ass.  I was much more into portraying the powerful, take charge Leia than the submissive, "tiger in the grass" Leia.  I've really been into women with guns lately.  Go Janine and Katherine!

6)  If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why?

I don't have a particular song in mind, rather a particular type of dance.  Some sort of dance to captivate and hypnotize Jabba while I planned my revenge.

7)  Any final words?

I highly recommend that everyone wear the metal bikini at least once.  It's such a fantastic experience!  And man, what great pictures you'll have to treasure!

Thanks Kat!
