| 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background. I was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1985, so I arrived a bit late for the first episodes. I watched Episode IV, V and VI on TV and I did not even notice Episode I, until a friend that is a fan of Star Wars invited me to go to the Episode II release. I watched Episode II and I fell in love with Star Wars. Then I started to watch the other movies and to read the books, playing the games and everything related to Star Wars. October 2004 is when I founded, with my brother and a few more people, the Association "Saga Skywalker Valencia", the first Star Wars Association in my city. Right now, besides being the secretary of "Saga Skywalker Valencia", I'm studying the degree of Tourism in the University of Valencia (this is my second year) and I will go to Georgia College & State University on January 2006 to finish my degree. Also, I work for a professor at the Department of Business Management of the University of Valencia. My hobbies are, of course, Star Wars, but also I love singing and dancing, travelling, fashion and commercials, languages (I speak English, Spanish, French, Valencian and a bit of Italian), going clubbing, to the cinema and any sort of Sci-Fi, Adventures and Fantasy books. 2) How long have you been costuming? What kinds of experiences have you had? I love costumes, but I did not have my first Star Wars costume until December 2004, when my nan sewed me my Padawan suit, to go to a local TV program that wanted us to do a performance. (It was some kind of program for kids where they have to do different activities to win a prize, and before they started, we were fighting with the lightsabers and so on) After that, we did a short film for the Association, where I was wearing some clothes like Padme's white outfit in Episode II, but I was carrying a lightsaber and wearing a Padawan braid. Then I started on Leia's Slave Outfit, and that's all I have at the moment. As soon as I can, I would like to do Leia's white outfit from Episode IV (the one with the buns, hehe). 3) What's your earliest memory of seeing Return of the Jedi? When I was small, I remember watching the Ewok movies with my dad (he always said that I was that little blonde girl with curly hair). Then I remember as well watching the old trilogy on TV. But nothing like having the Special Edition on DVD, where I can see Episode VI (my favorite of the old trilogy) again and again. 4) When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it? In one of the meetings of Saga Skywalker, while we were planning what to do for the Episode III release, we decided that we would wear a Star Wars costume. I already had my Padawan suit, but the president told me why wear something that nobody would wear (he meant Leia's Slave Outfit). I agreed and I looked for it on the internet. I joined the forum Slave Bikini Builders and got some tips to start creating it. And after a few months, my costume was ready (thanks as well to my nan that helped me with it). 5) What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia? The day of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith pre-release in Valencia, when we went out of the cinema and all the press were there; all the televisions and newspapers were doing interviews with me. A week later when I went to the University, everybody was telling me: "Hey, I saw you on TV", "You know, there is a photo of you in the newspaper." The only embarrassing thing was that even my professors had seen me on the news! 6) If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why? I wouldn't choose just one song, I like so many!! But I'll choose probably "Turn Me On" by Kevin Lyttle, or some song by Sean Paul or Beyonce. I love that kind of music! 7) Any final words? If there is still somebody doubting about doing or buying a Leia's Slave Bikini, stop doubting and get it now!! Wearing it is just wonderful, you feel pretty with it on (but there is one thing, be aware that everybody is going to stare at you, hehe). And maybe, it can happen to you, what happened to me, to win the second prize of the Star Wars Costume Contest!!! Thanks Lorena! |
