| 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background. I have lived in Atlanta my entire life, but am currently attending school at the University of Cincinnati under a pre-pharmacy major. I greatly enjoy belly dancing, ballroom dancing, playing the guitar, acting, and singing. Oh, yes, and one very important thing: I am a HUGE Star Wars geek! 2) How long have you been costuming? What kinds of experiences have you had? I guess you could say I've been "costuming" for awhile.... I participated in a program called "Odyssey of the Mind" for 6 years, and I have created quite a few costumes during my involvement in that. "Odyssey of the Mind" especially taught me to be resourceful while creating costumes, and to use inexpensive, everyday objects in unexpected ways to achieve a desired look. As you can probably tell, I used that same approach on my Slave Leia costume! 3) What's your earliest memory of seeing Return of the Jedi? I was in the 4th grade, at my aunt and uncle's house, and it was during Spring Break. The "Special Editions" of the original trilogy had just come out to theaters, and dad had just taken my brother, sister, and I to see "A New Hope" for the very first time. I was just completely blown away, and immediately after leaving the theater, I begged dad to let us rent the next two so I could find out how the saga ended! When I finally saw ROTJ, it quickly became my absolute favorite movie, and for months I was obsessed with it; I practically had it memorized from beginning to end. And thus began my absolute love for all things Star Wars! 4) When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it? This very website was a large part of what drove me to make my first bikini! I needed a costume for DragonCon (a yearly sci-fi convention), and I wanted something different than the typical Star Wars costumes that you see people wearing. So, I bought some materials, and set about making my costume. After waaaay too many failed attempts, I finally finished the costume, and wore it to DragonCon 2006 the next day! 5) What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia? I have quite a few awesome memories from my appearance, but I'd have to say that my favorite was walking by a guy in an immaculate Darth Vader costume and hearing him whistle and say "Rawwwr!" in his deep, resonating Darth Vader voice! 6) If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why? That's a tough question! Probably "The Warrior" by Patty Smyth and Scandal, just to let him know that I wasn't gonna take his crap for very long. In all honesty, though, I'd probably dance to anything that kept me out of that Rancor Pit! 7) Any final words? I just wanted to say thanks a bunch to Jamin, the creator of this site, for inspiring me and countless other geeky Star Wars girls to shed our inhibitions and become full-on, sexy slave girls! Thanks Madeline! |
