| 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background. I've been a Science Fiction fan ever since I can remember. It all began in the middle of the 1990's with watching Star Trek: The Next Generation on television. And although the Star Wars movies and the television series Babylon 5 are my favorite Science Fiction shows now, Star Trek will always be locked in my heart. It was the beginning! My hobbies include costuming, travelling, riding, archery, jogging and belly dance. 2) How long have you been costuming? What kinds of experiences have you had? I don't know whether commercially available Star Trek uniforms count as cosplay, but I actually have two of these uniforms since the mid 90's. After I saw Lord of the Rings in cinemas and visited a LOTR convention, I started costuming more seriously. It was just a matter of time to dress up as Padme, Leia or another character from a Sci Fi show. Almost all of my costuming experiences have been fantastic. It's a challenge to make an accurate replica of a movie costume or rebuild a historical one. It's a great pleasure to participate in any costume event, meet friends, wear costumes, take photos of people in costume and, of course, of myself in costume with other cosplayers, too. Pictures and descriptions of some of my costumes can be found on my page at Cosplay.com. 3) What's your earliest memory of seeing Return of the Jedi? It took me a while to get into Star Wars. I've been a huge Star Trek fan in the past and I'm still a Trekkie in my heart. But I remember watching the original SW movies as a teenager. 4) When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it? Jamin created this beautiful costume in autumn, 2005. There's more than one reason why I decided to dress up as Slave Leia. One of the most important reasons is that I had worked hard on myself and lost 40 pounds. This brought up my self confidence to a level where I could walk into a crowd of people wearing this very delicate costume. 5) What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia? The reactions of the people were definately my most favorite memory. When I wore the bikini for the first time, I was trembling with excitement on the way down to the lobby. As I emerged from the elevator, the people hardly reacted to my appearance. They were just staring at me. They were numb with disbelief at what they saw. But a few moments later, they jump up, started taking a ton of pictures of me and telling me that I was looking gorgeous. The more I wore the costume, the more confident I became. This costume definately enhances one's self esteem! 6) If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why? I don't like people watching me dance. It makes me feel too self conscious. But if Jabba would force me to dance, I would beg for two songs from Sarah Brightman to be played: "Kama Sutra" and "Harem Ouverture". 7) Any final words? Jamin, thanks for providing this site! Thanks Mohmoh! |
