| 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background. I'm 30 years old and live in NC. I have been an x-ray and MRI tech for the past 5 years. I enjoy several sci-fi shows, most of which are not currently airing. In my off time, I rollerblade, play D&D, go dancing and hold Mystery Dinners at my home. 2) How long have you been costuming? What kinds of experiences have you had? Certainly as a kid I dressed up for Halloween and have always loved Halloween. However, I would have to say that in the last few years, I have really been getting into more elaborate costumes. One year I dressed up in a skimpy shorts and tank top devil costume and I thought I looked hot. Well, it was nothing compared to the reaction I got from the Leia costume. My mother, who was at our costume party, told me "I haven't seen that much of your butt since I powdered it." 3) What's your earliest memory of seeing Return of the Jedi? Sadly, it's not of Leia. I was all about Luke. I was so mad at the Emperor for making Luke angry and fight his dad. Of course I was very young at the time and the idea of fighting your father was very scary. I also liked the Ewoks. 4) When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it? I got my bikini October, 2006 with the help of Carrie who advertises on the website and sells the molds of the metal parts to the bikini. I am very grateful that I found this site! I am not entirely sure why I decided to do Slave Leia, I'm not much of an exhibitionist. Perhaps it was because I had gone as Leia from A New Hope in the white robe and wanted to be Leia again. However, the only other iconic outfit she wears is the slave costume. Plus I knew my boyfriend wouldn't object. 5) What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia? So far I just have the one. I will have to say that when I came downstairs into the living room where our guests were, there was a definate gasp-jaw dropping-photo-flashing moment. All my friends were impressed with my boldness at wearing such a scandelous outfit. Oh and yes, there was a wardrobe malfunction. I had the misfortune of walking up the stairs with my male friend behind me when I accidentally stepped on my skirt and the belt piece snapped loose. He saw a full moon that night. ;-) Luckily I was with friends, so they just grabbed a coat and covered me up while I ducked into the bedroom. 6) If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why? "Don't You Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me" by the Pussycat Dolls. No, not really. I would rather be eaten by the rancor. But I would dance to a song by Perfect Circle called "Judas". The song is all about seduction and it has a pretty good beat. 7) Any final words? I can't wait to wear the costume again. I am hoping to go to a DragonCon and display myself again. I also want to thank all the fabulous ladies who paved the way for all us other Leia wanna-bes. And to those who are willing to sell their handiwork to those of us who are less skilled and creative. I look forward to seeing other Leias when I go to the DragonCon! Thanks Renee! |
