1)  Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background.

I attend the University of Iowa as an English Major.  I will be graduating in May of 2007 or possibly 2008.  I adore writing and hope that in the future I will be a published author.  I write everything from poetry to novels.  I do a little bit of modeling when I can, mostly artistic and gothic photographs.  Besides writing, my hobbies include crafts, sewing, crosheting and many other creative things.

2)  How long have you been costuming?  What kinds of experiences have you had?

I would have to say I've been costuming for about 7 years, mostly making my own Halloween costumes or helping my mom make my costume.  Besides my Leia outfit, I've made an Esmerelda costume from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a devil, and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.  I have almost too much fun with my creations and dressing up.

3)  What's your earliest memory of seei
ng Return of the Jedi?

Hmmm.....    that's a tough one.  I remember watching it with my dad when I was young, maybe about 8 or so and thinking that Jabba's tongue was creepy and that Leia was beautiful.

4)  When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it?

I actually made my "metal bikini" with help from several of the links from the ladies' sites linked off this website.  The initial idea was from my boyfriend, Nathan.  I asked him what I should be for Halloween and he told me to be Slave Leia and I loved it.  I actually hope to wear my "metal bikini" to a convention in the future.

5)  What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia?

I had a blast this past Halloween being Leia.  My boyfriend dressed as my Han Solo and we danced the night away at a party with some old friends.  I laughed at the questions that I got about the costume.  My favorite was "Are you wearing underwear under that?"  I won Most Authentic Costume that night and I can't wait to perfect my costume and wear it again.

6)  If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why?

I would have to say "Transylvanian Concubine" by Rasputina and Marilyn Manson because it's currently my favorite song.  It would be that or Dance Magic from the Labyrinth movie because it's always been a great one to have fun with.

7)  Any final words?

The hair in the picture is my own and I've never cut it.  And remember that there are a lot of girls out there that love Star Wars and other science fiction, so it's not just a guy thing.

Thanks Samantha!
