1)  Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background.

I'm a college graduate (biology and agricultural science majors).  I am a practice manager for a veterinary hospital in Tennessee.  My life is consumed by work.  When I'm not working, I'm usually found on the internet researching costumes, spending time with my boyfriend, or playing in the Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles forums (yes, I'm a Ninja Turtle fan also).

2)  How long have you been costuming?  What kinds of experiences have you had?

I've only been costuming since the beginning of 2005.  I never realized until now how much fun there could be had at conventions.  My first appearance in any costume was for an anime convention.  Since then, I have dressed in costume for CIII and for a Renaissance Festival.  It amazes me how much attention is paid to those in costume.  It's a wonderful rush for the people bold enough to put themselves on display.

3)  What's your earliest memory of seeing
Return of the Jedi?

I'll be brutally honest and admit that I watched it for the first time in January of 2005.  I was too young for the Star Wars movies when they first hit theaters.  By the time I was old enough to appreciate the film, I was at the age where I was interested in more girly things.  In the year 2004, I met and started dating a man who dressed in Star Wars costumes.  I became fascinated with the Star Wars universe and watched it for the first time with him.

4)  When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it?

    After seeing
Return of the Jedi, I had to own one.  The next week, I shopped around online and found one that I could modify a little to fit me.  I knew I would be attending CIII.  Originally, I had planned not to wear a costume, but as soon as I tried on the bikini, I knew it was the perfect costume for me.

5)  What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia?

My favorite memory would be wearing it at CIII.  I only spent one evening in costume.  I couldn't move 3 steps without someone asking for a picture.  I loved getting the attention, but I wanted to see more of the convention so I ended up wearing street clothes the next day.  That was the first time I had worn it for longer than an hour and I soon found out what modifications I needed to make in order for it to be more comfortable.

6)  If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why?

I'm pretty capable of dancing to just about anything.  I could really have some fun with "I Touch Myself" or "Baby Got Back."  That would distract Jabba for sure.

7)  Any final words?

I never thought I would be able to go out in public dressed so skimpy.  But this costume has given me a great amount of confidence.  It's not difficult to make and it sure isn't difficult to wear.  It's a fun outfit guaranteed to get you many second glances!

Thanks Summer!
