| 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and background. My name is Suzanne and I live in Houston, TX. For as long as I can remember, I've always been drawn to sci-fi - maybe it's my imagination or my fascination with science. I'm 29 years old, married to a very cool guy who happens to collect tons of Star Wars toys (heehee), and we have two dogs and two cats. I'm a writer by trade and I've always been drawn to creative expression - as in writing, acting, or in art. 2) How long have you been costuming? What kinds of experiences have you had? I had fun with costumes when I was in drama in high school, but we really didn't start wearing costumes regularily until about 4 to 5 years ago. At that point, the extent of our costumes were for Halloween, but now we've branched out to events such as local Burning Man-type events, theme parties with friends, Renaissance Festivals, etc. Now that we have Star Wars costumes, we might have to go to some local themed events! 3) What's your earliest memory of seeing Return of the Jedi? I think I saw this in the theater when I was very young and, of course, I thought the Ewoks were the coolest ever. I didn't really notice Leia's metal bikini until I was a little older and I thought it was the coolest costume ever. 4) When did you get your first "metal bikini" and what drove you to it? I got it this year (October 2006) in time for Halloween, to compliment my husband's Darth Vader costume. Since he went so elaborate with his costume, I decided to go equally as elaborate with mine. And I thought I might as well wear something like the "metal bikini" while I am still young, make the most of the time I have! :-) 5) What is your favorite memory of appearing as Slave Leia? So far we've just been to a few parties - to be honest, the first night I wore it for local Halloween costume parties has to be my favorite, just because of the initial reaction I recieved from people at the club we visited. I was uncertain if I looked good in it, or if anyone would recognize me, but the reception I had was overwhelmingly warm, too much so at times if you catch my drift. Atleast I had Darth Vader protecting me! 6) If you danced for Jabba the Hutt, what song would you dance to and why? I would have to say Erasure, "Chains of Love" - because the cover band at one of the Halloween balls we went to played it, and it just seemed to fit the costume! 7) Any final words? Just that I love my costume so much! I can't wait to wear it again to another costume event! Thanks Suzannne! |
